NDIS

We get this question all the time:

"Can I use my NDIS funding to buy an Aums Arm?"

The short answer: YES, if your plan is self-managed or plan-managed.

The longer answer? Let’s break it down (because NDIS loves its rules and categories, right?).

The NDIS provides funding and support to eligible people with disability. See more info here.

Self-managed & Plan-managed Participants

Good news! If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, you can absolutely use your NDIS funding to purchase an Aums Arm.

The Aums Arm usually falls under:

  • Assistive Products for Personal Care and Safety → covers low-cost, low-risk items that support daily living needs (like tube feeding equipment), OR

  • Low-cost Assistive Technology → non-electrical, under $1500, low-risk products (think positioning aids and daily living supports).

At the end of the day, it just needs to be considered “reasonable and necessary” for your/your child’s plan - e.g. helps with safe feeding, reduces caregiver strain, promotes independence or simply makes life easier.

Agency-managed Participants

We are not a NDIS registered provider, yet (watch this space 👀).
This means, if your plan is agency-managed, unfortunately you won’t be able to claim an Aums Arm through consumables.

A note on 'reasonable & necessary'

We’ve had many families successfully claim their Aums Arm - because it ticks all the boxes:

  • Improves safety at feeding time

  • Reduces physical strain for carers

  • Supports independence and mobility

  • And, let’s be honest, saves a few sanity points too 😉
